Our technology driven world is inundating even the youngest of our children...
There is something surreal about hearing my six year old sit in the back seat and chastise his sister for nearly spilling water on his Nintendo DS. He tells her that it is “expensive technology” and that she needs to be more careful. The comment leads into a litany of how much technology they use and how important it is to them, all among children under the age of twelve.

This is certainly the day and age where the world revolves around our cell phones, mp3 players, portable and personal video players, and mobile game consoles. The emphasis is all about networking, chatting with friends, playing games with live competitors and being up on all the latest and greatest music videos, movies, games, and you tube videos.

It is a lot to keep up with as a parent and it is something that we must make a priority.
Once upon a time, the TV was the good parents’ nemesis because it would rot the brain and negatively influence our children. Remember when all you had to control was what your children watched on TV? Blocking the Sopranos was no problem. Everywhere you turn as a parent or step-parent, there is opportunity for negative outside influences.
**You have to watch what music they listen to on the computer, even from friends, not just the car radio….
**What videos they watch on Yahoo or You Tube, not just the TV…
**What messages they get in text messages on cell phones or online, not just notes passed in school…
**What images are sent to your child via cell phones, email, and instant messaging…
