The Big Day - Bringing togetherness through the blended family wedding.
The blended Family Wedding - It is so important for the blended family to be involved in a “ceremony” for the wedding day.
The event can be as big or as small as you would like it to be. It can be as formal or informal as you are happy with, but it must include the children and your family. Here are some great ways to include everyone.
Make the children part of the wedding party.
Throw “tradition” out the window. Make that special day yours and theirs. This is a family affair so let it be just that. Involving the children in your special day can greatly strengthen your new family.
Create a symbol of commitment.
A cornerstone to creating a happy, healthy blended family is unity. Use this opportunity to include the children by allowing them to commit to the relationship as a family. Even your youngest members can benefit from the bonding that a blended family wedding can provide.
Choose Music that will entertain the whole family.
Disney soundtracks are the greatest source of fun, family music that can be integrated into your wedding. Whether during the procession or the reception, Disney and children’s film companies have given us a wealth of wonderful, heartfelt music to bring the children into the ceremony. Music from classics like Fantasia, The Lion King, and Cars can be enjoyed by the children as well as all your guests.

Spend Time Together!
When we got married, our family kept asking, “do you need us to keep the kids” or “where are you going after the wedding”… my answer was continuously, “No thank you” and “Nowhere”. We came home after the ceremony and played a game and watched a movie with our kids. That is the ultimate way to blend a family and cement the idea that the ceremony was about just that, blending the family. This doesn’t mean you have to go home and do nothing, but make the evening or weekend or week, a family affair. This is a great prelude to a family vacation, or just a night in a hotel. The blended family wedding is not just about the bride and groom as in a traditional marriage. You and your spouse are already committed if you've gotten this far, the ceremony is primarily to benefit the young ones in your life, to help them physically involve themselves in the commitment of the family.
