But what of the kids, how will they take the news? Step parents, stepchildren, blended families… This may be a short fuse. Will they get along with the other? Or scream “you’re not my mother”! Will they like each other or will they constantly bicker? Will they take to sharing rooms or even hand me down knickers? Who will get the bigger car so everyone fits? And what about holidays? Sharing is the pits!

Family vacations now require the sum of annual pay,
Getting a hotel room means renting the entire wing, no way!
Bank accounts, bills, assets, finance… oh my!
College for kids at rates that continue to fly!
His weekend, her weekend, fifth weekend, who’s turn is it?
Games, recitals, practice… I need to catch my breath a bit!
Kisses on the way out or a honk as you drive away.
With patience, flexibility, and love...
Your blended family CAN be successful at the end of the day.

The standard, nuclear family has plenty of challenges to overcome on a daily basis. Add the combination of two split families and the affect is compounding, not just simple addition.

It means that normal is no longer part of the vocabulary. Every “normal” task is in some way a challenge.

This is where Blended Family Fun comes in. I have scoured the internet to find family tips, advice, and assistance to make my day to day life easier.

I have searched parenting books, books on blended families, books on blended family parenting. From remarriage and finances, to parenting and step-parenting, shopping, movies, music, counseling and avoiding marriage pitfalls… I have searched it all.

There are a few tricks here that I have simply discovered by accident, or through trial and error. However they work for our family, so they just might work for yours.

A blended family that can grow and learn together can be a healthy, successful family.
